Assemblies

Assemblies
Assemblies are a much-loved part of life at The Old School Henstead, offering time for
reflection, celebration and community. They support the development of character,
curiosity, and a strong sense of belonging, bringing our whole school together in joyful and
meaningful ways.

Each day has its own unique focus:

Monday – World and Wonder Assembly
We start the week by exploring current events, significant awareness days and big
questions about the world around us. This assembly encourages children to think
beyond themselves, engage with global issues and develop a sense of curiosity and
empathy.

Tuesday – House Assembly
Pupils meet in their Houses to build team spirit, take part in fun competitions and
celebrate collective achievements. It’s a time to strengthen friendships across year
groups and share a sense of purpose and pride.

Wednesday – Storytime Assembly
A calm, reflective midweek moment where children enjoy classic and modern tales.
These sessions help nurture a love of storytelling, stimulate imagination, and prompt
thoughtful discussion around morals, values and life lessons.

Thursday – Music Assembly
A joyful celebration of musical expression. Pupils sing together, enjoy performances,
and explore music from a range of styles, cultures and time periods. It’s a highlight of
the week that energises and unites the school community.

Friday – Mascot Assembly
Our celebratory end to the week! We recognise pupil achievements – academic,
creative, sporting and personal. House points are tallied, certificates awarded and
the much-anticipated class mascot is handed over to a new home for the week.
Assemblies at Henstead are more than just routine – they are central to the heartbeat of our
school. They provide connection, recognition, inspiration and joy.
